Patty Rouse, area director of sales and marketing of Hotel Galvez & Spa, The Tremont House and Harbor House, oversees all marketing and sales efforts for these historic hotels. The hotels are managed by Wyndham and owned by Cynthia and George Mitchell family making them part of Mitchell Historic Properties.
Patty has worked in the hospitality industry in Galveston for more than 25 years including 13 years with these historic properties. Under her leadership, the sales staff in 1999 was awarded Wyndham International Hotel Sales Team of the Year. These hotels also led the market share in 2004 and have exceeded annual budget in 2006 and 2007. Hotel Galvez’ wedding market has increased significantly under her direction and now averages 120 weddings annually.
Earlier in her career, Patty was assistant general manager and director of sales at Galveston Island Hilton where she supervised the renovation of the hotel. She worked in various positions at Holiday Inn on the Beach and was responsible for the pre-opening sales before it opened in March 1984. She also spent time working at the Flagship Hotel early in her career.
Her sales philosophy that she imparts to her staff is to be customer-service oriented, to empathize with guests and to treat guests the way they would like to be treated.
She has a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from Pennsylvania State University.
