Spiros N. Vassilakis is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The Mitchell Family Corporation and Mitchell Historic Properties. He joined the company as Vice President in 1996. He has been in his current position since 1998, overseeing the daily implementation of the strategic plans regarding all operating, financial, and legal aspects of the assets of Cynthia and George Mitchell.
From 1984 to 1995, he analyzed and managed corporate finance projects for Mitchell Energy & Development Corp., an independent oil and gas producer, and The Woodlands Corporation, a full service real estate development company responsible for developing the 25,000 acre, master planned community of The Woodlands, Texas.
During the past 25 years, Mr. Vassilakis has also been a manager of and/or advisor to numerous financial transactions in excess of $8 billion, including taxable and tax-exempt corporate debt, mortgage financings, private and public equity placements, and private M&A projects.
He served on the board of directors of Rock Solid Images of Houston, a developer of seismic and petro physical tools for reservoir characterization and imaging, until its sale to Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping PLC of Scottland in 2007. He currently sits on the board of directors of the Houston Advanced Research Center of The Woodlands and is currently the chair of its audit and finance committee.
A chartered financial analyst and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Houston, he holds a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the National University of Athens, Greece.
