The Hotel Galvez Provides Elegant Meeting Options in a Historic Setting

GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas – Situated just 45 minutes south of Houston and surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Galveston Island welcomes meeting attendees to its culture-infused city, complete with sun-drenched beaches and engaging history. Attendees can relax after a series of meetings by walking on the Seawall or by scheduling a treatment at the newly opened Spa at the Hotel Galvez. The hotel features Wyndham ClearAir™ allergy-friendly air purification meeting space in inviting settings.

Since its grand opening in 1911, Hotel Galvez, revered as the “Queen of the Gulf,” has reigned as the premier hotel on the island. Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Hotel Galvez is the only historic beachfront property on Galveston Island. The timeless hotel offers more than 13,000 square feet of meeting space consisting of nine meeting rooms.

Renovations by the owners have refurbished Hotel Galvez with yesteryear’s elegance and modern amenities. The Music Hall (4,550 sq. ft.) welcomes guests with grand arches, high ceilings and striking glass and gold chandeliers and can accommodate groups up to 500 theater-style. The intimate East & West Parlors (2,624 sq. ft. total) with ornate moldings are ideal for special occasions and meetings up to 50 people classroom-style.

Fully restored to their original grandeur, the additional ballrooms and conference rooms flaunt the classic elegance of the Hotel Galvez. The gracious Terrace Ballroom (2,501 sq. ft.) is a multi-functional room that was originally a Marine Dining Room. Today it holds large groups and allows events to pour into a Veranda through a string of French doors. Overlooking the property’s gardens and tropical pool, the Veranda (2,500 sq. ft.) features expansive views of the property in an elegant setting. Also housing a private Boardroom (300 sq. ft.), Hotel Galvez accommodates meetings of all sizes ― from small to Texas-sized. The hotel also offers two smaller boardrooms on the lower level and second floors.

Meeting attendees unwind at Hotel Galvez’s Bernardo’s Restaurant. Bernardo’s, named for Bernardo de Gálvez, celebrates the Spanish, Cuban and Louisiana influences of Gálvez’s life, while continuing to feature local favorites such as fresh Gulf seafood. Hotel Galvez’ meeting facilities feature state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, wireless high-speed Internet, on-site catering capabilities and full-service staff, ensuring seamless gatherings. Accommodations offer Gulf- or city-view guestrooms. The nearby Tremont House, also a Wyndham Historic Hotel, can serve as an overflow hotel and offer additional meeting space options.

Hotel Galvez now offers a perfect opportunity for guests to unwind. The hotel opened its multi-million dollar, 9,736 square-foot spa with accompanying salon and fitness center on March 15, 2008.
