To uphold this tradition, this historic hotel is offering a Romantic Rendezvous and Wedding Vow Renewal on Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 10-12, 2012. As part of this special weekend getaway package, Hotel Galvez invites couples to renew their commitment vows during an intimate ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 as well as partake in Galveston’s scheduled Mardi Gras festivities.

What do Santa Claus, the Mayor of Galveston and Queen Victoria all have in common? They will all be attending the City of Galveston’s Holiday Lighting Celebration at Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel on Friday, Nov. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., a free holiday event open to the public that marks the start of the holiday season in Galveston. As part of the evening, Hotel Galvez will be accepting monetary donations for the Salvation Army to help those in need.

Hotel Galvez & Spa, a Wyndham Grand® Hotel and National Trust Historic Hotel of America, invites guests to embark on enthralling ghost hunts during the month of October. The “haunted” Texas hotel is extending its ghost tour to the public as part of a special three-course dinner special on Thursday evenings. The hotel has also scheduled a ghost tour dinner on Halloween. Additionally, the hotel will offer special overnight ghost tour packages for guests on Thursdays and Sundays.

The City of Galveston kicked off the holiday season Friday with its annual Tree Lighting Celebration at Hotel Galvez. The event featured the lighting of a 35-foot Chrismas tree, visits with Santa and performances by local groups.

If you think ghosts are merely Halloween fantasies, guests who’ve stayed at the 100-year-old Hotel Galvez say you might change your mind after spending the night there. The rooms and halls of the century-old landmark are said to be haunted. Reports of strange noises, ghostly images and unexplained events are common. But nothing is as common as the reports connected to room 501.

Now the only historic beachfront hotel left on the Gulf Coast, the Hotel Galvez & Spa has just completed an $11 million renovation in celebration of its 100th anniversary. Owners George Mitchell and his family have made several updates to the property, modernizing it while maintaining its turn-of-the-century charm.

Hotel Galvez is Galveston’s only historic beachfront hotel. This hotel, known as the “Queen of the Gulf,” opened on June 10, 1911. The hotel is owned by Mitchell Historic Properties and managed by Wyndham Hotel & Resorts, LLC. Hotel Galvez is a Wyndham Historic Hotel and National Trust Historic Hotel of America. The 224-room hotel includes seven distinctive suites, a 9,763 square-foot spa, full-service Bernardo’s Restaurant, bar, tropical pool with cabanas and unique offering of conference and banquet facilities all set in a beautifully restored historic hotel. All suites and sleeping rooms flaunt views of the Gulf of Mexico or the city.
