Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel and National Trust Historic Hotel of America, is the only historic beachfront hotel on the Texas Gulf Coast. This 224-room, century-old hotel offers 13,231 square feet of meeting space.

A group of businessmen pooled its resources after the 1900 hurricane and opened the Hotel Galvez in 1911 as a symbol that Galveston Island had not only withstood the devastation of the Great 1900 Storm, but had returned to its pre-hurricane glory. This elegant beachfront hotel was immediately proclaimed “Queen of the Gulf” and within a year of opening, it was deemed the “best arranged and most richly furnished seaside hotel in America” by Hotel Monthly. The hotel has undergone several renovations including a recent $11 million renovation for the hotel’s centennial celebration. It remains the only historic beachfront hotel on the Texas Gulf Coast and is rated four diamonds by AAA. Hotel Galvez, a Wyndham Grand Hotel and National Trust Historic Hotel of America, is owned by Galveston preservationist George Mitchell and part of Mitchell Historic Properties.
