Ruth Walsh, spa director of The Spa at the Hotel Galvez, manages all operations of this newly reopened 9,763 square-foot, multi-million dollar spa on the lower level of the historic Hotel Galvez.
Ruth joined the Hotel Galvez staff in May 2009 overseeing the finishing touches on the spa before its reopening on June 10, 2009. The spa was fully restored following damage caused by Hurricane Ike, which struck Galveston on Sept. 13, 2008.
Prior to Hotel Galvez, Ruth served as spa and fitness director at the Marriott Horseshoe Bay Resort, a 13,000 square foot facility in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. During her four years with Horseshoe Bay, the spa went through two major renovations and grew from a four-room spa to a 12-room spa. The spa at Horseshoe Bay is rated three diamonds by AAA.
Earlier in her career, she ran local, state and international events at the largest high school natatorium in United States in Canton, Ohio, while serving as an assistant aquatic director. She also coached swimming at city, state, national and high school levels.
Ruth is a member of the International Spa Association (ISPA). She is a 2005 graduate of Kent State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in leisure studies with a focus in recreational management.
The Spa at The Hotel Galvez is a premier luxury spa on Galveston Island offering everything from body wraps, body scrubs, facials, massages, hair treatments, nail services, and water therapy.
