Offering a start to finish personal experience, Tina’s on The Strand goes above and beyond to make their customers feel valued. The staff at Tina’s offers a friendly experience no longer found in most boutique shops. Regular customers are treated like family and new customers are not soon forgotten. Tina’s even mails thank you notes to those who spend over a certain dollar amount. And if they are out of something specific, the staff is happy to call down the street to find out if a neighboring business has what you’re looking for.
Despite closing their doors for eight months after Hurricane Ike filled the store with 10 feet of water, Tina’s persevered out of manager Boyce Pryor’s home with the support of loyal fans and vendors. With a spirit of positivity, Tina’s came back bigger and better than ever, using their forced shut down as an opportunity to start from scratch. Their grand return is due, in part, to their most popular item, Tina’s signature candle. Tina’s signature candle draws orders from across the country. “It’s a fabulous candle, and we ship thousands of them,” Pryor says. They also have a number of exclusive lines that distinguish them from the average boutique. Several of the clothing lines at Tina’s are also serving another cause. From child advocacy to women’s groups, Tina’s believes in responsible shopping. That means they support lines that give back. They also know where their merchandise is made so you know that you are supporting American economies.
With unique merchandising of its upscale apparel, home décor and gifts, Tina’s seasonal inventory means the store displays are always changing and bringing customers back time and again to see what new, unique items the boutique has to offer. They are even happy to ship merchandise to your home for no more than the standard cost of postage. If you feel like Galveston is too far to travel for their goods, Tina’s also offers their services over the phone and online.
When asked about their experience on The Strand, Pryor said that it is apparent the store owners and managers on The Strand all have a great deal of respect for one another. The stores all compliment each other and The Strand is a great place for unique businesses to grow. The small, but growing, community and the history and ghosts are a great draw to customers who are interested in a special experience.
