Rosenberg Library will present The Great Storm: Original Photographs from the Devastating Hurricane of September 8, 1900 at The Tremont House, 2300 Ship’s Mechanic Row, on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6 – 9 pm in conjunction with ArtWalk. The Great Storm presents 102 images during a 15-minute PowerPoint from the Rosenberg Library’s extensive photographic archives of the hurricane.

Mitchell Historic Properties recently announced the appointment of Marty Miles as hotel manager for The Tremont House, a Wyndham Grand® Hotel, and Harbor House Hotel & Marina. Miles has served as the complex food & beverage director since November 2009 and will continue to serve in this role overseeing the food and beverage operations of Hotel Galvez & Spa, The Tremont House and Harbor House Hotel & Marina.

Galveston’s only downtown hotel - The Tremont House, a Wyndham® Grand Hotel, will kick off the summer on its Rooftop Bar with a new atmosphere and weekday happy hour from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition to its daily happy hour, guests can enjoy live acoustic music and a coastal small bite menu every Thursday from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. as part of a weekly Party on The Rooftop. The bar is also open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday when not in use for private functions.

Galveston’s Tremont Café located in The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand Hotel, has launched a new bistro style menu. As part of the new menu, the café has added new “After 5” entrée selections in addition to its breakfast and afternoon dining entrees.

As reported by the Galveston Police Department, there was an unfortunate incident on Saturday at The Tremont House which resulted in some slight damage to the hotel. Although the hotel still has two guest rooms out of service, the general operation of the hotel has not been disrupted.

The Tremont House, a Wyndham Grand Hotel, invites guests to make more time for themselves as part of their New Year’s Resolution and experience one of Texas most distinctive shopping destinations in historic downtown Galveston. Tremont House guests can celebrate the Chinese New Year with a Mardi Gras flair during the 26th Annual Mardi Gras Ball “A Chinese New Year” on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand Hotel, will feature an array of Asian inspired dishes as part of this year’s themed celebration.

Tickets to The Tremont House 26th Annual Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 are now available online. The Tremont House, a Wyndham Grand Hotel, will celebrate “A Chinese New Year.” The ball begins at 6 p.m. and tickets are $350 per couple which includes an open bar, an extensive buffet featuring Asian cuisine, live music by The Brew from Austin in the lobby and the Dr. Michael White Jazz Quartet in the dining area. Ball guests will also enjoy prime viewing of the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade as floats and marching bands stop directly in front of the hotel to perform.

The hotel invites the public to see its collection of Mardi Gras Ball invitations dating back to 1985 during a special exhibit held in conjunction with ArtWalk on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit is called The Tremont House Celebrates Mardi Gras - 26 years of Celebration through Invitations and Doubloons. Every year, the George Mitchell family produces a custom invitation and accompanying doubloon to celebrate the hotel’s annual celebration of Mardi Gras.

The Tremont House, a Wyndham Grand Hotel and National Trust Historic Hotel of America, recently unveiled a new look for its historic Belmont Suites. Each floor offers a series of three adjoining suites and parlors. Suites feature an elegant sitting area, guest bathroom, dining table and bar in each parlor. Suites are decorated in a classic neutral palette and furnished with either Baker or McGuire furniture, a custom rug created by Brintons and new classic white plantation shutters. Adjoining bedrooms are furnished with JANUS et Cie headboards and Anichini bedding manufactured in Italy.
