The Tremont House to Feature Indian Menu for Mardi Gras Ball

The Tremont House, a Wyndham Grand® Hotel, announced its 27th Annual Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party will celebrate “The Enchantment of India” with an extensive Indian appetizer and dinner buffet menu. Tickets for the ball on Saturday, March 5, are $200 per person and are available online.
                                                                                                    
Passed appetizers will include chicken tikka, a mix of shish chicken, beef and lamb kebabs and paneer tikkas. The dinner buffet will offer palak paneer, Navratan curry, Dal Makhani, butter chicken, shrimp coconut curry, leg of lamb Shahjahangri, rice pilaf, naan and raita. For dessert, guest will enjoy a variety of traditional Indian sweets.
 
Beginning at 6 p.m., this premier Mardi Gras event includes an open bar and live music by Houston’s Eclipse and the Dr. Michael White Jazz Quartet of New Orleans. Houston’s top DJ, Yogi-G, will also provide Indian music, while cultural dancers, drummers and Bollywood dance lessons will entertain guests. Ball-goers will enjoy prime viewing of the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade in an exclusive, gated area as floats and marching bands pass in front of the hotel. After the parade, the party continues in the hotel’s ballroom with Indian Bollywood and cultural entertainment followed by dancing and the sounds of Eclipse. Breakfast will be served to guests in the ballroom beginning at 11:00 p.m.  Dress for the event is black tie or Indian-themed attire.  
 
A portion of the proceeds from the ball will benefit the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering education and village development in rural India. The Ekal movement is the largest grassroots, non-government education initiative in India, operating in over 34,000 villages and educating over one million children.
 
In conjunction with the Mardi Gras celebration, The Tremont House is offering a two-night package that includes accommodations for two for two nights, valet parking, two tickets to the ball and viewing of the Momus Grand Night Parade. The package is available March 4 through March 6 and starts at $775 for two nights for double occupancy. Guests who book this package can begin the Mardi Gras weekend at The Tremont House with a Friday night performance by the Dr. Michael White Jazz Quartet from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
 
The annual event, hosted by the George Mitchell family, originated in 1985 with the grand opening of The Tremont House and the revival of Galveston Island’s city-wide Mardi Gras celebrations.
