Tremont House Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party
The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel, has announced that its 28th Annual Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. will salute “The Golden Era of Motown.” During the evening, guests can enjoy a special appearance by The Legacy of The Temptations presented by Legends in Concert.

For $200 per person, this premier Mardi Gras event includes an open bar, an extensive buffet and live music performed by three bands including New Orleans’ Dr. Michael White Jazz Quartet. Party-goers will enjoy prime viewing of the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade as floats and marching bands pass in front of the hotel. After the parade, the night’s festivities continue into the morning in the hotel’s ballroom which will be converted to a classic lounge from the 1960s. The Legacy of The Temptations presented by Legends in Concert will set the tone for the evening followed by Houston’s Eclipse Band and Orchestra as they perform the unforgettable songs of Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5 and other Motown greats. Breakfast will be served in the ballroom beginning at 11:00 p.m. Dress for the event is black tie or Motown glamour- themed costume.

A portion of the proceeds from the ball will benefit Galveston Sustainable Communities Alliance (GSCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable and holistic neighborhood revitalization through education, mixed-income housing and community development that provides increased opportunities for Galveston residents.

In celebration of Mardi Gras, The Tremont House is offering a two-night package that includes accommodations for two, valet parking and two tickets to the ball and breakfast. The package, available Feb. 17 – 19, starts at $899 for double occupancy. The weekend begins with an intimate Friday night preview performance by the Dr. Michael White Jazz Quartet in the hotel lobby from 7 to 10 p.m., culminating with Mardi Gras ball on Saturday.

Tickets for the ball will be available for purchase online at http://www.galveston.com/mardigrasball/. The annual event, hosted by the George Mitchell family, originated in 1985 with the grand opening of The Tremont House and the revival of Galveston Island’s city-wide Mardi Gras celebrations.
